My friend and talented musician and cook Chris Parasiuk ( lead singer of Oliver the Great) will be co-hosting an art show the last weekend of January ( Saturday the 28th) and everyone is invited and encouraged to come!! This will be my first solo exhibit, and will feature some past works as well as a few brand new ones that no one has seen yet! There will be custom hand-stenciled t-shirts for sale, art cards, and original pieces ranging and sizes and prices (starting at $30!) - so come on out , have a bite to eat, pop open some champagne and join me in this visual extravaganza! It's a perfect sized space to fit lots of paintings and lots of fantastic people !

$5 at the door will go towards the cost of food for the generous host Chris who will be whipping together some magic-in-your-mouth bouchées ( which alone will be reason enough for coming up to the loft) , there will be great music playing, and no end of great people to network with ! Creative souls - musicians, ad men and women, fashion designers, writers, actors, hair stylists, graphic designers and people who just love art ( or love me enough to smile and nod at my finger paintings) - this is going to be a hot place to relax, mingle with wonderful people and take home something special and one of a kind made by your friend the artist ;)

LOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVELOVE you!!!!!!

    Bio:

Emerging artist Jennifer Bisson, an Ottawa native, studied Studio Art and Art History at the University of Guelph. She is currently living and working out of Montreal.

Bisson discovered her unique style while in university and quickly realized that her honest, passionate approach to abstraction lent itself to experimentation with multiple mediums and applications. The first of which, developed during her studies, Bisson’s primary focus was natural abstraction, a territory that expressed a " ...voluptuous, moody.. and honest..." composition. An artist in constant evolution, Bisson began to integrate representation into her abstraction. Combining the two distinct techniques, she strives to connect the crispness of environment and the blurred washes of nostalgia.

More recently, the young artist has been focused on developing the second, and darker, application of her work through portraiture. A deeper reflection on self and ego, projection and internalization, disconnection and unity, beauty and abjection, Bisson explores what it means to be self aware. This series of introspective work allows the artist to expand her understanding of the human form and the effect of symbols and icons of femininity, domesticity, sexuality and identity stereotype.
